Unique Restaurants

Over the years I have met an amazing number of people from diverse backgrounds who, regardless of their personal wealth or success, say they’d like to set-up a restaurant one day. Home-makers with culinary skills, celebrities looking for an investment, corporate executives who are well connected, landlords with space, restaurant mangers or chefs with industry experience, industrialists who would simply like a place to host their associates & friends, and all sorts of other people dream of having their own restaurant.

“A restaurant is generally an establishment where the public may obtain meals or refreshments.”

After all, how hard can it be? All you need to do is arrange for a good space, good food & good ambience, market yourself well and there... you could make some good money and even a name for yourself, right? Sure! But try getting down to doing it and you will find it isn’t that easy, not even for the most experienced restaurateurs.it is the food related ones that come up most often – “I’m quite a foodie you know” or “I enjoy eating in various parts of the world” or “I have some terrific tried-n-tested family recipes”. What is a restaurant?

As with so many ideas that evolve over time, restaurants now serve a larger role in society... they have become places of social contact, of discovering new cultures and tastes from far-away lands, of spending an evening with your loved ones, of clinching business deals over a glass of wine, and so forth. All this, of course, in addition to the basic functions of “restoring” people with the help of good food, service and ambience. Restaurants differ based on their orientation towards a certain type of food or beverage, a specialized activity, a particular style of service or a combination of these. For instance a coffee shop is oriented towards coffee and conversation, a discotheque towards dance and liquor, a quick service restaurant towards dishing out pre-prepared food quickly on order, a fine dining restaurant towards a certain kind of cuisine, a takeaway towards delivered packaged meals. Anyone planning to start a restaurant will have to take note of these diverse functions and orientations, and cater to the different (and ever-changing!) needs and expectations of prospective clients.

Restaurants

1.) Ristorante Grotta Palazzese (Puglia, Italy):
The Grotta Palazzese restaurant is internationally renowned, as evidenced by the many reviews on the most important magazines and blogs around the world. It has an outdoor lounge, set in a unique place in the world. In fact, the terrace that welcomes guests has been created within a natural cave, the "Grotta Palazzese" (or "di Palazzo", as it was once called), from which it takes its name, a place known and used for parties and banquets since 1700. Famous, to regard, it is the watercolor of Jean Louis Desprez of 1783.

2.) Northern Lights Bar In Ion Hotel (Iceland):
ION Luxury Adventure Hotel's concrete and glass facade rises from the Icelandic landscape like a set piece in a science fiction fantasy. Geothermal power and sustainable building materials are as pretty as they are practical at this four-pearl property, where 45 rooms are chic and include organic amenities, modern technology, and frequently gorgeous views. The restaurant serves New Nordic cuisine and the lovely bar offers seasonal glimpses of the Northern Lights -- there's also a spa with a gorgeous outdoor hot tub. The location might not suit all, but design nerds, romantic couples, and thrill seekers looking for excursions can fulfill a dream or two.

3.) The Green Dragon Pub In Hobbiton (New Zealand):
"A Place To Drink, A Place To Meet, A Place To Rest Your Hairy Feet."
For anyone who has ever wanted to have a pint with Frodo, Sam, Merry, and Pippin, you're in luck — New Zealand has a new addition to its Hobbiton tourist town, and its none other than The Green Dragon, the famed Hobbit watering hole.

4.) The Snowcastle Of Kemi (Kemi, Finland):
The SnowCastle of Kemi (Finnish: Kemin lumilinna) is the biggest snow fort in the world. It is rebuilt every winter with a different architecture in Kemi, Finland. In 1996 the first snow castle drew 300,000 visitors. For several years the snowcastle was located in the Kemi city harbor, in 2017 the location was moved into a nearby park. Current address is Mansikkanokankatu 15. The area covered by the castle has varied from 13,000 to over 20,000 square metres. The highest towers have been over 20 metres high and longest walls over 1,000 metres long, and the castle has had up to three stories. Despite its varying configurations, the snow castle has a few recurring elements: a chapel, a restaurant and a hotel.

5.) Labassin Waterfall Restaurant (Villa Escudero Resort, Philippines):
The Labassin Waterfall Restaurant in Philippines is one of the most unusual restaurants as it gives one a chance to dine in the middle of a waterfall! Situated amidst the Villa Escudero Plantations and Resort, this restaurant is one-of-a-kind as it serves authentic seafood on bamboo tables while you enjoy the cool breeze of the surrounding forest and the refreshing waterfall. While coming here you can give your footwear a break and enjoy a scrumptious Filipino platter with your feet dipped in the cold water. You might also get drenched while having your meal, but eating amidst the gushing waterfall is worth an experience which you cannot miss while in the Philippines.

6.) Hr Giger Museum Bar (Gruyères, Switzerland):
Created by Swiss artist H. R. Giger, HR Giger Bar is a work of art, an original and completely unique experience. The ceiling, walls, floors, fittings, tables and chairs are all modeled by the artist in the style of his acclaimed ‘Alien’ biomechanical environment and character designs. Giger Bar is the ultimate in immersive art. The experience is incredible, inviting and inspiring. The interior of the bars are themed along the lines of his biomechanical style as shown in the Alien films. The roof, walls, fittings and chairs are all modelled by the artist and fit into the same designs as seen in the films he designed, notably "Alien".

7.) El Diablo (Lanzarote, Spain):
A giant grill is laid across the opening, where 6 feet below, the gentle giant is softly bubbling lava at 400 degrees Celsius, apparently the perfect temperature for volcanically grilled meats. Aside from the dramatic cooking methods, El Diablo also brags an amazing otherworldly panoramic view of Lanzarote’s Timanfaya National Park, a martian landscape of red sands and volcanic rock. This dormant volcano has been peacefully gurgling below the surface since it’s last eruption in 1824. What could possibly go wrong?

8.) Sci-fi Dine-in Theater Restaurant (Disney's Hollywood Studios, FL, USA):
The Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater Restaurant is a theme restaurant at Disney's Hollywood Studios, one of the four main theme parks at Walt Disney World in Bay Lake, Florida, United States. Established in May 1991, the restaurant is modeled after a 1950s drive-in theater. Walt Disney Imagineering designed the booths to resemble convertibles of the period, and some servers act as carhops while wearing roller skates. While eating, guests watch a large projection screen displaying clips of 1950s and 1960s films as Frankenstein Meets the Space Monster, Plan 9 from Outer Space, and Attack of the 50 Foot Woman.

9.) Alice In A Labyrinth (Tokyo, Japan):
This place is much more than a restaurant. It’s a labyrinth of storybook pages, followed by a stack of books that make you feel caterpillar-sized. You enter into the main dining room to see various scenes from Lewis Carroll’s classic novel: the hedges from the Queen’s croquet-ground, enormous cards on the ceiling, and chairs in the shape of rose-bushes. The staff welcomes you in Alice’s pinafore dress and Mad Hatter-inspired costumes.

10.) Nekobiyaka (Himeji, Japan):
Yes, it's the world's first and only black-cat cafe, located near Himeji's central station and along the route to the town's famous landmark castle. While there were only six cats present when we visited (the website lists a dozen), they were an extremely lively bunch - running around, jumping in the air, and playing a vigorous game of fetch with a cloth-covered toy. We're not sure, but we suspect that catnip may have been involved. The cafe is attractively furnished in residential living-room style, with windows looking out onto one of Himeji's shopping streets.

11.) Redwoods Treehouse (Warkworth, New Zealand):
Set 10m high among treetops and surrounded by countryside, the Redwoods Treehouse is a world-class venue that never fails to wow visitors. From weddings and private parties to award nights, product launches and corporate events, the unique Redwoods Treehouse will elevate your celebration. A cocoon-shaped pod set in the trees and surrounded by farmland, the Treehouse is the perfect antidote to busy city life. A wedding at the Treehouse is a sure-fire way to impress guests and set the scene for a wedding to remember. An incredible space to wow clients or employees with special dinners, launches, work parties or photoshoots.

12.) Bistrot Chez Rémy (Disneyland Paris, France):
Shrink down to the size of Rémy and feast on French cuisine in this Parisian bistro straight from the world of a Disney Pixar classic. Pull up a giant champagne cork and take your seat at your jam jar lid in this larger-than-life eatery. Here, oversized cocktail umbrellas, cookbooks and cutlery give you a rat's eye view, all whilst you and your little colony indulge in Rémy's special menu: seasonal salad, cut of beef, of course Ratatouille , Brie de Meaux and a large choice of desserts. Bon appétit!

13.) Walter's Coffee Roastery (Istanbul, Turkey):
As shown in the famous TV series "Breaking Bad", Coffee does have its chemistry for the process. Walter's Coffee Roastery is the first coffee laboratory specializing in daily roasted coffee established in Istanbul. They are passionate about coffee and its chemistry. From extraction and brewing temperatures to espresso machine pressure and grinder configuration, their coffee is up to a science. At Walter's, we aim to create a clean, minimalist and fresh environment for our customers. The use of lab-themed utensils demonstrates our passion for coffee science.

14.) All Men Must Dine Pop-up Restaurant (London, UK):
Fans of the popular TV series "Game of Thrones" can dine like the show's characters at a pop-up restaurant themed around a meeting of the Small Council. HBO has partnered with pop-up organisers The Wandering Chef to create several courses inspired by the Westeros setting, accompanied by cocktails fit for a king. Fans will be given a chance to win a seat at the King's Landing council table and enjoy a night of entertainment, food and drink.

15.) Prison Of Fire (Tianjin, China):
The unusual theme of this restaurant is not just a marketing ploy to entice dinners but a reminder for people to value their freedom and stay away from crimes. Let’s just hope this campaign works. Customers walk down dimly-lit corridors lined with brick walls before being "locked up" in iron-barred cells, equipped with shackles and handcuffs. "Inmates" must place their orders on an iPad-menu. The food — a fusion of traditional Chinese and western food - is then passed through a small door hatch.
